Let's jump back over to the "Entries" view and take a closer look at a specific entry. Click "View" on the entry corresponding to your TAB bonus bet.
This will take you to the entry detail view, where you can see all the information that makes up this entry. This is no different to what you saw when you created the entry, except now we're viewing the recorded data instead of inputting it.
Bets
You'll see that the system automatically created two bets in this entry for you - one corresponding to your back bet and another for your lay bet. The back bet is the one you placed with TAB, while the lay bet is the one you placed on Betfair. Let's go through each of the fields that make up a bet.
- Stake: The amount wagered on the bet.
- Bookmaker: The bookmaker (or exchange) where the bet was placed.
- Date: When the bet was struck.
- Expected Value: If a bet has a known expected value we can enter it here, as a percentage of the stake. Usually we'll handle this for you, where applicable.
- Bet Direction: Whether the bet is a back or lay bet.
- Win Fee: The fee charged by the bookmaker (or exchange) on profit if the bet is successful.
- Note: If you wish to add a note for your own purposes about this bet, you can do so here.
You'll also see five switches:
- Bonus Bet (SNR): If this bet was placed using an SNR bonus, you toggle this switch on. This will ensure that we correctly calculate the return when the bet resolves. Also, we'll subtract the stake from this bookmaker's bonus balance, not your cash balance. If you're ever placing an SR bonus bet, don't toggle this on. Instead, enable "Override Cost", and set the bonus cost equal to the stake, and set cash cost equal to zero.
- Promo Attached: If this bet is associated with a promotional offer, you can toggle this switch on. This is useful for sustainability purposes, which we'll cover later.
- Same Game Multi: If this bet is a same game multi (SGM), you toggle this switch on. This will present a field to enter the odds of the multi as offered by the bookmaker.
- Override Cost: If you need to manually adjust the cost of this bet for any reason, you can toggle this switch on and enter the new cash and bonus cost. Once a new bet has been saved, this is enabled automatically and reflects the calculated cost of the bet (including liability for lay bets).
- Override Return: If you need to manually adjust the cash return of this bet for any reason, you can toggle this switch on and enter the new cash return. Once a bet has been resolved, this is enabled automatically and reflects the calculated return of the bet.
Legs
A bet can have one or more legs. Each leg is a proposition in a market. You can either manually enter the details for a new leg by clicking the "Add Leg" button. Alternatively, you can add a leg that's linked to our sportsbook index by clicking "Link Leg". Linked legs are automatically resolved by the system once the event concludes, meaning we'll automatically update the leg status based on the actual outcome of the event.
Leg details
Most of the fields in a leg are self explanatory. Just a couple important points to note:
- The date field refers to the time after which we expect the leg to be resolved. This is usually the start time of the event it's linked to. If you're manually entering a date, any time after this will trigger an alert for this entry in the "Entries/Bets" view that this bet is "Awaiting Resolution".
- Status refers to the current state of a specific leg (in other words, the outcome of a betting proposition). Be careful, if you're placing a lay bet and it succeeds, the leg status should be set to loser. Remember, a lay bet wins when the outcome is not successful.
If we fail to automatically resolve a leg for any reason, the status will be marked as "ALERT", and the entry will appear with a "Requires Attention" indicator in the Entries/Bets view. You will then need to manually enter the status.
Balances
Balance entries are more straightforward than bet entries. They simply record a change in your account balance, without the need for all the additional details associated with a bet.
- Balance Type: Whether this balance change is a cash or bonus adjustment.
- Amount: The amount of the balance change (positive for deposits, negative for withdrawals).
- Bookmaker: The bookmaker associated with this balance change.
- Date: When the balance change occurred.
- Expiry (for bonuses): When the bonus will expire. We automatically populate this field with the expected expiry date based on the bookmaker's terms, but be sure to double check this for new bookmakers. We'll also remove unused expired bonuses from your balance.
- Note: If you wish to add a note for your own purposes about this balance change, you can do so here.
Remember, the cash balance changes resulting from the outcome of your bets will be reflected automatically. You don't need to add balance changes for these.
If you place a bet with a promotion attached, and you receive a bonus bet as a result of that promotion, you'll need to record the bonus bet as a balance change manually.
We recommend recording this bonus bet balance change, and any associated lay/back bet in the same tracker entry as the bet that triggered the promotion, for more accurate retention tracking.
