Qualifying bets are the bets you place with your own money in the hopes of qualifying for a promotion.
Example - Placing a Qualifying Bet
You place a $50 back bet on Team A at odds of 2.0 using your own cash. This bet is intended to qualify you for a bonus bet promotion.
When recording this qualifying bet in the tracker, you would enter the following details:
- Stake: $50
- Promo Attached: Yes (indicating that this bet is linked to a promotion)
Legs
Example - Bonus Bet Received
After placing the qualifying bet, you receive a $50 bonus bet from the bookmaker as part of the promotion.
Recall the entry you made for the qualifying bet. In the same entry, you would now add a new balance change to record the bonus bet received:
- Balance Type: Bonus
- Amount: $50
After selecting the bookmaker, the balance change will automatically update the expiry date based on the bookmaker's terms for bonus bets. If we get it wrong, you can manually adjust it.
This way, the tracker accurately reflects both the qualifying bet you placed and the bonus bet you received as a result of that promotion.
Example - Using the Bonus Bet
You'll want to convert that bonus bet into real cash. Let's assume you do this by using the back & lay strategy covered earlier. You identify a following suitable bet combination involving backing Team B at odds of 8.0 with your bonus bet and laying Team B on the exchange at odds of 8.1. The exchange market has a 5% commission.
Recall the entry you made for the qualifying bet. In the same entry, you would now add two new bets to record the back and lay bets:
Back Bet
- Stake: $50 (using the bonus bet)
- Bonus Bet (SNR): Yes (indicating that this bet was placed using a bonus bet)
Legs
Lay Bet
- Stake: $43.48 (Calculated lay stake based on the back bet)
- Bet Direction: Lay
- Win Fee: 5% (exchange market commission)
Legs
By recording both the back and lay bets in the same entry as the qualifying bet and bonus bet received, the Tracker will accurately reflect your retention and overall profit/loss from this sequence of bets.
