Arbitrage Betting

How to record arbitrage bets

Arbitrage betting, also known as sure betting, is a strategy that involves placing bets on all possible outcomes of an event across different bookmakers to guarantee a profit regardless of the outcome. This is achieved by taking advantage of differing odds offered by various bookmakers.

Note: These are illustrative examples for you to refer to later during your matched betting journey. We haven't yet covered arbitrage betting in detail.

Example

Let's say you find a tennis match where Bookmaker A is offering odds of 2.1 for Player X to win, and Bookmaker B is offering odds of 2.1 for Player Y to win.

By placing bets on both players, you can guarantee a profit. This is because the combined implied probabilities of the two bets is less than 100%.

Implied Probability = (1 / 2.1) + (1 / 2.1) = 0.4762 + 0.4762 = 0.9524 (95.24%)

Bet 1

  • Stake: $50
  • Bookmaker: Bookmaker A

Legs

  • Player X at odds of 2.1

Bet 2

  • Stake: $50
  • Bookmaker: Bookmaker B

Legs

  • Player Y at odds of 2.1
