Bonus Bet on Place

Use Stallion for a place-back racing promotion

Scenario

Say you have a racing promo where a runner finishing in the places returns some or all of your stake as a bonus bet.

You want Stallion to find a candidate where the promotion has positive value after accounting for the back bet, the exchange lay, fair odds, and the bonus bet returned.

Set up the race

Open the race and choose:

Mode
Bonus Bet on Place

Use BBP because the promotion pays a bonus bet if the runner places.

Stake

Enter the amount you will stake with the bookmaker.

Places

Enter how many finishing positions receive the bonus bet.

Returns

Enter the percentage of stake returned as a bonus bet.

Add the bookmaker offering the promotion as an active bookmaker.

Pick a candidate

Start with EV. If the EV is not worth the effort, move on.

If the candidate is worth checking, confirm:

  • the runner and race are correct
  • the bookmaker is the one offering the promo
  • the place terms match your setup
  • the back price still exists
  • the lay price, liquidity, and liability are usable

Open the EV detail if the confidence looks low or the fair odds source needs checking.

Place, save, and track

Once the live prices match the candidate closely enough:

  1. Place the bookmaker bet.
  2. Place the exchange lay bet.
  3. Save the play with .
  4. Update the saved play if the odds or lay stake changed.
  5. Add it from Scratchpad to Tracker once the saved details match what you placed.

Check the place terms

If the promotion pays to a different number of places than Stallion is using, the EV estimate is not describing your actual promo.

Common mistakes

  • Using Bonus Bet on Win instead of Bonus Bet on Place.
  • Entering the wrong number of places.
  • Forgetting to adjust the returned percentage.
  • Ignoring low exchange liquidity.
  • Placing too close to jump time.
