Kelly and Bankroll

Use Positive EV staking controls

Scenario

Say Positive EV is showing plenty of candidates, but the suggested stakes are larger than you are comfortable with.

You want Positive EV to keep finding good prices while sizing them around your bankroll.

Set up bankroll

Open filters with Filters and go to Bankroll.

Bankroll Source
Tracker or Manual

Use Tracker if your tracked balances are current. Use Manual if you want a separate value-betting bankroll.

Kelly Fraction

Use 1/4 or 1/2 Kelly when you want smaller, smoother stakes.

Kelly Stake Rounding

Choose practical rounding if you do not want awkward stake sizes.

Use Kelly filters

Go back to Value filters and use Kelly Stake if needed.

You can filter out candidates with very small suggested stakes, or candidates where the Kelly suggestion is larger than you want to place.

Pick a candidate

Start with EV, then check Kelly.

If the EV is strong but the Kelly stake is too large, do not force the stake. Lower the stake, tighten your filters, or pass.

Positive EV is a long-term tool. Protecting the bankroll is part of the edge.

Place, save, and track

Once the stake size is acceptable:

  1. Place the bookmaker bet.
  2. Save the play with if the displayed candidate still matches what you placed.
  3. Enter the stake you actually placed, not necessarily the exact Kelly suggestion.
  4. Add it from Scratchpad to Tracker.

Common mistakes

  • Treating Kelly as mandatory.
  • Using Full Kelly on noisy fair odds.
  • Forgetting that rounding changes the exact stake.
  • Using Tracker bankroll when Tracker balances are stale.
  • Letting one big edge dominate the bankroll.
