Webhook Alert

Send alerts to an external workflow

Scenario

Say you want alerts sent to your own automation, private dashboard, or notification pipeline.

Create the destination

Open Destinations, add a webhook, and enter an HTTPS endpoint.

Store the signing secret when PuntPilot shows it. If you rotate the secret later, update your endpoint before relying on the destination again.

Then request verification and confirm the token from the verification request.

Attach it to a rule

Create or edit an alert rule and select the webhook destination.

For webhook rules, use tighter filters than you would for casual in-app review. External systems are easier to flood because every matching delivery becomes a request your endpoint has to process.

Handler expectations

Your webhook handler should:

  • verify the PuntPilot signature
  • process only the event types it supports
  • handle duplicate delivery identifiers safely
  • return a success response quickly
  • store enough context to audit what was received
  • treat every opportunity as stale until your workflow rechecks it

Common mistakes

  • Losing the signing secret.
  • Not completing verification.
  • Treating webhook delivery as proof the price is still live.
  • Failing the whole request because one downstream system is slow.
  • Not handling retries or duplicate deliveries.
